MIDDLESEX, NC — May 19th — Firefighters and equipment from four counties participated in a rural water supply training exercise organized by the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department. Water delivery in locations without hydrant systems and tanker shuttle operations were the main topics of the exercise. While improving collaboration amongst participating departments from Nash, Franklin, Johnston, and Wake counties, crews rehearsed transporting massive volumes of water to fictitious emergency scenes.

In many communities where hydrants are not easily accessible, rural water delivery operations are an essential part of battling fires. These kinds of training exercises support firefighters in maintaining critical skills, enhancing agency-to-agency communication, and improving preparedness for major incidents. Department representatives expressed gratitude to all staff members who helped make the training program a success.
