Along with instructors and recruits from several departments, members of the Ferrisburgh Volunteer Fire Department Firefighter 1 class took part in a live-fire training exercise on June 30.

According to officials, the training gave firefighters practical experience in search and rescue operations, firefighting techniques, and fire suppression under actual fire situations. While honing their operating abilities and teamwork, participants were able to experience the heat, smoke, and difficulties frequently seen during emergency occurrences.

According to the department, live-fire training is an essential aspect of developing firefighters because it helps them get the experience and confidence necessary to serve the community in a safe and efficient manner. Officials complimented the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad for providing medical assistance and rehabilitation throughout the day, as well as instructors from the Essex Fire Department and other participating agencies for their instruction.
