This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

MIDDLEBURY, CT — On April 20th — A Monday night training session on pump operations and hose line advancement was held by the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department. While younger pump operators went through various challenges intended to ensure a steady water supply, younger firemen rehearsed extending hose lines during simulated fireground scenarios. Additionally, during long hose sections, crews examined how engine companies and attack squads coordinated.

Regular training sessions, according to department commanders, enhance members' operational readiness, communication skills, and knowledge with the equipment. In structural firefighting, pump operations and water supply management are still crucial components, especially when long hose lays or continuous fire attack activities are needed. The exercise was a part of the department's regular weekly training program.
