MILFORD, CT — On April 27th — After more than 15 months of training, the Milford Fire Department announced that firefighters Joe Ungar and Chance Wassmer have finished the St. Vincent's Medical Center Paramedic program. Advanced emergency medical care-focused fieldwork, hospital clinical rotations, and classroom training were all part of the program. After graduating, both members are finishing up the last requirements to become fully licensed paramedics.

According to department officials, the achievement demonstrates the dedication needed to juggle tough EMS training with fire service responsibilities. Milford's emergency medical response skills will be strengthened and community service will be improved with the appointment of two new paramedics.
