This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

FORKED RIVER, N.J. — April 13th — Using the Ocean County Fire Academy's Class A burn structure, members of the Forked River Fire Department performed a live burn training exercise. A two-story taxpayer-style situation with business space on the first floor and residential occupancies above was created by Assistant Chief 3320.

Before extending 1½-inch handlines, crews worked as the first-due company, finishing size-up operations and coordinating Division 1 and Division 2 searches. During the evolution, firefighters rotated through a number of missions, concentrating on search and rescue, water can usage, response speed, suppression operations, and ladder installation for secondary egress. In order to improve coordination and internal firefighting abilities, the training offered realistic situations.
