Ewing, N.J. — May 20 — In response to a suspected wire fire on Montaque Avenue, West Trenton Volunteer Fire Company dispatched police and firefighters to secure the area and safeguard the people. When crews arrived, they discovered a utility-related situation that necessitated closing the road to all traffic. While police controlled traffic and prevented cars from entering the impacted area, firefighters created a secure perimeter.
The damaged wire was to be inspected and repaired by utility staff. Because of the possible risks associated with electrical lines, wire mishaps are handled carefully. There were no reported injuries. Until the situation was settled and declared safe, the road remained closed.
