JACKSON, N.J. — April 7th — In order to receive practical training in search and rescue, hose advancement, and leader line operations, firefighters from the Department Cassville Volunteer Fire Company #1 traveled to an acquired structure. In conditions akin to those found at active fires, crews practiced interior firefighting techniques in the abandoned building. While firefighters advanced hoselines through the structure and conducted simulated searches, training officers focused on communication, teamwork, and responding to changing fireground conditions.
Regular station training cannot replicate the useful real-world experience that acquired structure drills offer. According to department officials, participants gained confidence, strengthened operational readiness, and enhanced coordination as they prepared to respond to situations in the community in a safe and efficient manner.
