Cranford, NJ — April 12th — The Cranford Fire Department honored dispatchers at the Union County Regional Communications Dispatch Center for their contribution to emergency response during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. As the initial point of contact for 911 callers, telecommunicators are in charge of obtaining information, setting incident priorities, and sending out the appropriate resources. Throughout operations, they stay in touch with field troops and give pre-arrival instructions.

Accurate call processing, according to officials, facilitates incident command, situational awareness, and reaction times. The center works closely with fire, EMS, and law enforcement departments and manages a large number of calls throughout Union County. The acknowledgment emphasizes how crucial skilled dispatchers are to guaranteeing safe, well-coordinated, and effective emergency responses from the first call to the conclusion of the situation.
