This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Kennebunkport, ME — April 1st — As the region approaches brushfire season, the Kennebunkport Fire Department, located at 32 North Street, 04046, held training on brushfire operations. In locations without hydrants, crews examined brush trucks and equipment used for off-road response and water distribution.

While seasoned firemen finished a skills refresher, new members were introduced to these tools for the first time. Members were given hands-on training to familiarize themselves with the layout and capabilities of Squad 11, a new addition to the fleet. This kind of seasonal training helps departments get ready for greater brush fire activity in the spring.
