This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Kennebunk, ME — April 1st — Youth from Arundel, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport participated in a collaborative program organized by the Department of Kennebunk Fire-Rescue, 1 Summer St., Kennebunk, ME, United States, 04043, and local Cub Scouts. In keeping with continuing community risk reduction initiatives, the event's main goals were community involvement and fire safety education.

Firefighters gave practical demonstrations, such as equipment tours, familiarization with turnout gear, and instruction on fundamental safety procedures including using smoke alarms and making plans for home escapes.

These kinds of programs are used extensively throughout the fire department to raise awareness at a young age and lessen future crises. With the help of IAFF Local 5352, Kennebunk Fire-Rescue keeps bolstering the "three towns, one community" concept through outreach.
