Cornish, ME — April 18th — The Cornish Fire Department, located at 37 School St., honors the memory of F. Harold Bucknell, whose name may be found on the department's insignia. The department's efforts to maintain its past and pay tribute to those who helped shape it are reflected in the acknowledgment. Through station exhibits, apparatus markings, and plaques, volunteer fire departments in many Maine villages preserve close ties to former members.

These honors show how early firemen contributed to the development of response systems, training requirements, and community trust. In order to connect current members with their predecessors, the fire department continues to maintain this history. Additionally, it upholds departmental culture and emphasizes the value of long-term service. The acknowledgment is still a part of the department's continuous attempts to maintain its traditions.
