This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Hollis Center, ME — April 1st — A brush pile from last fall's cleaning was carefully burned with the help of crews from Department Hollis Fire Rescue, located at 34 Town Farm Road. The operation was carried out under careful supervision and according to normal open burning techniques for vegetation management. Personnel used the detail as a training opportunity, operating Utility 6 to review pump operations, hose handling, and fire control techniques.

Under supervision, a junior member also took part and gained real-world experience. These tasks are frequently utilized to blend practical instruction with regular community service. Crews cleansed the situation without any problems, and the burn stayed contained within the specified area.
