Crews Sharpen Skills, Quickly Contain Field Fire in North Yarmouth

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

North Yarmouth firefighters recently focused on rural water supply and drafting operations, utilizing apparatus to pull water from a static source and strengthen readiness for areas without hydrants.

That training proved valuable as crews responded to a field fire on Memorial Highway, where they found a rapidly spreading burn covering roughly 150 by 150 feet.

Using coordinated hose line deployment and several hundred gallons of water, firefighters were able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire before it could spread further.
