The NJ Fire & EMS Institute held its first Firefighter Health, Safety and Tactics seminar at Middlesex College in Edison, April 22nd. Topics included cancer awareness and what is necessary to reduce the risk of cancer. It was noted that some 85% of cancer causing carcinogens can be removed after a fire by scrubbing gear with soap and water. Here, Jersey City members clean their faces with wipes provided by the Gong Club canteen after they battled a 3-alarm fire that involved several Manhattan Avenue buildings on April 14th.
