This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Belfast, ME — April 14th — The Belfast Fire and EMS, located at 273 Main Street, trained its crews in cardiac arrest management and CPR recertification. Using a LUCAS device, staff members practiced practical situations with an emphasis on providing reliable, superior compressions during patient transport and on-scene care. Waldo Volunteer Fire Department mutual aid personnel attended the course to help with interagency coordination.

Assistant Chief Robbins and Paramedic/Firefighter Whittlesey led the class, which reinforced current prehospital care procedures. In cardiac emergencies, where coordinated efforts and efficient equipment use are critical to patient care and overall response preparedness throughout the region, regular training of this kind helps crews retain expertise.
