Avon, CT - The Avon Volunteer Fire Department recently completed a comprehensive hazardous materials (hazmat) operations refresher, reinforcing its preparedness for a wide range of emergency incidents, including motor vehicle accidents and hazardous material responses.

During the training, members participated in hands-on, multi-discipline scenarios designed to mirror real-world conditions. Crews rotated through key skill stations focusing on victim rescue, leak control, metering and sampling, and decontamination procedures.

The department highlighted that continuous training is essential to maintaining a high level of readiness, ensuring personnel can respond safely and effectively to any situation.
