Pittsburgh, PA - The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire conducted training exercises on the city’s rivers using the Sophie Masloff Fire Boat-1, as crews prepare for the upcoming boating season.

Firefighters utilized the specialized vessel to sharpen their skills in responding to incidents on waterways, shorelines, marinas, and bridges. The fire boat is also capable of supplying water directly to land-based fire apparatus, making it a critical asset during large-scale operations.

Officials noted that this hands-on training ensures crews remain ready to respond effectively to emergencies on and around Pittsburgh’s rivers.
