Pleasant Hills, PA - Pleasant Hills Volunteer Fire Company responded as part of the first alarm assignment to a residential structure fire in Jefferson Hills, after a chief officer arrived on scene and immediately transmitted the working fire to dispatch.
What began as a small fire at the rear of the home quickly intensified due to windy conditions. The first arriving engine stretched a handline to the rear for initial suppression, while additional arriving crews established a water supply and deployed more lines.
In total, five handlines were placed in service as firefighters battled heavy fire conditions on both the first and second floors.
Command was initially held by a responding assistant chief before being transferred to a deputy chief. Crews operated on scene for an extended period before bringing the fire under control. The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the Allegheny County Fire Marshal.
