DEERFIELD, NH — March 17th — As part of regular preparations, the Deerfield Fire/Rescue held first-due training drills at a nearby church. The structure was utilized by crews to go over initial reaction procedures, such as hose line deployment, equipment placement, and size-up. Coordination between arriving units, building access, and search issues were all included in the training. The activity was a part of planned training, and there was no emergency.

Departments frequently use first-due training to increase operating efficiency and familiarity with the buildings in their response areas. Prior to an actual call, pre-incident planning assists crews in identifying risks and developing strategies. Throughout the exercise, staff members continued to be on duty and ready for calls, ensuring readiness while finishing district-wide training.
