Littleton Crews Responded to Multi-Patient Construction Accident

Littleton, NH — September 8 — Littleton Fire Rescue arrived at 9:29 a.m.at 940 Meadow Street to address a reported multi-patient construction incident.Ambulances 1 and 3, along with Engine 1 and Car 1, were dispatched to the scene.

A concrete boom pump was in operation inside a building during a concrete pouring process when the boom got stuck on a steel beam. As workers tried to remove the equipment, the boom fell and hit two construction workers.

Firefighters assessed the injured individuals and sent out two trauma alerts. Both patients were taken by ambulance to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St.Johnsbury, as CT services were not available at Littleton Regional Healthcare at that time.

Since both department ambulances were used for transporting the patients, off-duty and called firefighters were called back to ensure emergency coverage in Littleton.

Chief Chad Miller stated that the patients' injuries did not seem to be severe at first glance given the situation.

Although air medical transport was considered, it was not necessary based on the patients' conditions.

There was no major structural damage observed immediately. Department officials intended to collaborate with the building owner to have the structure inspected for safety and structural soundness.

Littleton Fire Rescue is based at 230 West Main St. and offers fire, rescue, and emergency medical services to the community and nearby areas. The department handled patient care and maintained local emergency coverage while its ambulances were out of town.
