Station 38 Upgrades Tanker Fleet with Donated Seagrave Unit

BRANCHVILLE, NJ — March 21st — While decommissioning an older tanker that sustained operations for many years, the STFDS 38 has started the process of switching to a modern water supply unit. The Township of Mahwah donated a 2004 Seagrave tanker, which Station 38 just put into operational preparedness. It is anticipated that the device, which can transport 2,500 gallons of water, will improve tanker shuttle operations in township areas without hydrants.

The action coincides with members' ongoing long-term plans to replace outdated equipment. Although current build timelines are anticipated to be more than two years, a group established two years ago is working toward a single new unit. A backup and additional water supply unit was provided by the departing Tanker 2, a 1992 Ford that was earlier purchased from the Frankford Fire Department.
