BRANCHVILLE, NJ — March 21st — While decommissioning an older tanker that sustained operations for many years, the STFDS 38 has started the process of switching to a modern water supply unit. The Township of Mahwah donated a 2004 Seagrave tanker, which Station 38 just put into operational preparedness. It is anticipated that the device, which can transport 2,500-gallons of water, will improve tanker shuttle operations in township areas without hydrants. The action coincides with members' ongoing long-term plans to replace outdated equipment. Although current build timelines are anticipated to be more than two years, a group established two years ago is working toward a single new unit. A backup and additional water supply unit was provided by the departing Tanker 2, a 1992 Ford that was earlier purchased from the Frankford Fire Department.
