Plattsburgh, NY — March 12th — At the New York State Capitol in Albany on Legislative Advocacy Day, members of the District No. 3 Fire Department, located at 128 Wallace Hill Road, joined a sizable delegation from Clinton County. State legislators met with volunteer firemen to talk about important topics like funding for training and equipment, recruitment, and retention. About 93% of New York State's fire departments are still run entirely by volunteers.

These kinds of advocacy gatherings give responders a chance to speak with decision-makers directly about their operational needs. Firefighters from Cadyville, Peru, Mooers, Champlain, and South Plattsburgh comprised the Clinton County group, which was among the biggest in attendance. As part of the day's events, the delegation also visited the Assembly floor and took a tour of the Capitol.
