Hunter and Sara Elkin Advance Toward Firefighter 1 Certification

DAYTON — March 17th — Hunter and Sara Elkin, two of the Dayton District Volunteer Fire Company's newest members, were honored for finishing the "Essentials of Firefighting" course.


A firefighter's career begins with this 188-hour course, which also offers credentials needed for further training. Since joining, both members have demonstrated a strong commitment and consistency, finishing the program while actively supporting department operations, according to department officials.


With plans to pursue Firefighter 1 certification in the upcoming months, Hunter and Elkin are anticipated to continue their training.
