BELLONA, NY — March 21st — Using a flashover simulator, firefighters from the Bellona Volunteer Fire Company, located at 110 Pre Emption Road in Bellona, New York, trained alongside Benton Fire Department personnel at the White Springs Fire Department. Firefighters were able to witness the development of heat, smoke, and fire conditions inside a burning structure thanks to the training. Crews reviewed safe interior firefighting techniques and examined flashover warning signals.

Firefighters could observe fire behavior and learn how quickly things may change during structural fires in a controlled setting thanks to the simulator. Coordination during mutual aid reactions is further strengthened by joint drills with nearby departments. Exercises like this help prepare firefighters for the conditions they may encounter on the fireground, according to training experts.
