Champlain Fire District Conducts Dry Hydrant and Pump Training

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Champlain, NY -Members of the Champlain Fire District tested dry hydrants throughout the area while refreshing key pump operations skills. The hydrant on Lake Shore Road along the Great Chazy River performed well, flowing just over 1,000 gallons per minute—an improvement made possible through recent repairs and replacements completed in partnership with the Town of Champlain and GBW Associates LLC.

Firefighters also practiced pump operations by drafting from the river and transitioning from tank water to hydrant supply while maintaining steady pressure. This hands-on work strengthens operational readiness and ensures reliable water supply during emergencies.

The district commends all members for their continued commitment to training and preparedness.
