Fire Crews Assist EMS During Medical Emergency

Cicero, NY — March 3rd — A report of a cardiac or respiratory arrest prompted firefighters from the Cicero Fire Department, located at 8377 Brewerton Road in Cicero, New York, 13039. EMS professionals and firefighters were sent to help a patient who was having a life-threatening medical emergency. Firefighters started performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) as soon as they arrived, while emergency medical services (EMS) professionals were ready to provide more sophisticated medical care.


The majority of calls that fire stations in Onondaga County answer are related to medical situations, such as cardiac arrest. Before a patient is taken to a hospital, early intervention by first responders is crucial. Firefighters stayed on the scene to support patient care operations and aid EMS personnel.
