Saturdays with Sparky” Highlights Burn Ban Awareness

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On March 28th, the Whitesville Volunteer Fire Department issued its monthly "Saturdays with Sparky" fire safety reminder, emphasizing wildfire prevention as spring approaches.

Residents were cautioned by fire officials to properly dispose of yard garbage and grass clippings, adding that dry leaves, brush, and other items can easily ignite and spread fire in dry weather.

The department also reminded the public that New York State’s annual burn ban is in effect from March 16th through May 14th, prohibiting the outdoor burning of brush and debris during that period to help reduce wildfire risk.
