March 23, 2026 — The Hinesburg Fire Department joined more than 60 representatives from the Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) and numerous public safety partners for a large-scale tabletop exercise held at Champlain Valley Union (CVU) High School, aimed at strengthening coordinated emergency response efforts. Facilitated in partnership with Vermont Emergency Management, the exercise provided participants with an opportunity to work through a dynamic, evolving crisis scenario using established emergency plans while incorporating lessons learned from previous training events. The collaborative session brought together educators, fire and EMS personnel, law enforcement, and municipal leaders to enhance communication, clarify operational roles, and improve unified response strategies during critical incidents. Officials noted that exercises like this are essential for ensuring preparedness in complex, real-world situations, particularly in school environments where coordinated action is vital to protecting students and staff. By the conclusion of the exercise, participants reported a stronger understanding of interagency responsibilities and a renewed commitment to ongoing training and partnership across the region.
