Good Samaritans Contain Brush Fires Before Crews Arrive

Troy, VT - Firefighters from the Troy Volunteer Fire Department responded to reports of two separate brush fires along Route 100, where quick-thinking motorists had already taken action to limit the spread.

Upon arrival, crews found both fires largely contained thanks to bystanders who stopped to help before emergency personnel reached the scene.

Firefighters from Engine 3 stretched a hose line to fully extinguish remaining flames and address lingering hot spots.

Officials credited the early actions of passing motorists with preventing further spread, while crews ensured the fires were completely extinguished and the area made safe.
