Hinesburg Firefighters Complete Vermont Fire Academy Training

March 12, 2026 — The Hinesburg Fire Department announced the successful completion of the Vermont Fire Academy Firefighter Level 1 program by three of its members, marking a significant milestone in their professional development. Firefighters Denver Wilson, Ryan Brooks, and Nathanial Bangs completed the intensive certification, which is administered by the Vermont Division of Fire Safety and requires more than 190 hours of training across 16 chapters. The program covers a wide range of essential firefighting skills, from foundational techniques such as knot tying to advanced life-saving operations including victim rescue in active fire environments. Department officials noted the considerable time and personal commitment required to complete the training, emphasizing the impact on both the firefighters and their families. The experience also fosters strong connections among firefighters statewide, strengthening mutual aid relationships and teamwork. The department expressed pride in the members’ dedication and commitment to enhancing their skills in service to the Hinesburg community.
