March 7, 2027 — Hinesburg Fire Department Fire Chief Prescott Nadeau issued a message of appreciation to residents after voters overwhelmingly approved the department’s municipal budget, with more than 80 percent support. The strong approval reflects community trust in local fire and EMS services, particularly as call volumes increase and availability challenges impact volunteer response. Over the past year, nearly 20 percent of emergency incidents required mutual aid assistance, highlighting the need for enhanced staffing. With the newly approved budget, the department will implement expanded coverage beginning in July, introducing a full-time firefighter/EMT six days a week to improve response times, reduce reliance on mutual aid, and support volunteer personnel. Chief Nadeau emphasized the department’s ongoing commitment to public safety, community engagement, and accessibility, encouraging residents to visit the station for safety assistance, including smoke alarm installations and fire prevention guidance. Officials noted that the additional staffing marks a significant step forward in ensuring reliable emergency response for the Hinesburg community.
