March 3, 2026 — The Hinesburg Fire Department encouraged residents to sign up for the state’s VT-ALERT system while visiting the polls, offering quick, in-person assistance to help community members register for emergency notifications. Chief Nadeau was on hand to guide residents through the simple process, which takes just a few minutes and provides critical, real-time information during emergencies such as severe weather, road closures, hazardous conditions, and public safety alerts. Officials emphasized the importance of staying informed and noted that residents can customize alerts based on location, type of emergency, and preferred communication methods. The initiative highlights the department’s ongoing commitment to community preparedness and public safety in partnership with Vermont Emergency Management and the Hinesburg Police Department.
