March 24, 2026 — Members of the City of Vergennes Fire Department participated in an intensive ice water rescue training exercise, focusing on preparing crews for emergencies in hazardous winter conditions. Firefighters worked in full cold-water immersion suits, practicing victim rescue techniques, ice navigation, and coordinated team operations using specialized equipment designed for frozen water incidents. Officials noted that much of the gear utilized during the training is made possible through grants and community donations, highlighting the importance of continued support for emergency services.
