Stewart Manor Fire Department Announces Passing of Honorary Chief Carl Barone

Stewart Manor, NY — February 28th — Honorary Chief Carl Barone, a 57-year department veteran, passed away, the SMFD stated. Barone spent decades volunteering as a firefighter for the Stewart Manor community. He advanced through the ranks early in his service and became commander of Emergency and Relief Company #3. He held the position of department treasurer for 35 years in addition to his operational responsibilities. He supported the organization's long-term operations and assisted in managing the department's finances by drawing on his experience as a certified public accountant.


Members characterized Barone as a dependable presence in the firehouse who promoted the department's community service and welcomed new members. His lengthy tenure and dedication to the Stewart Manor Fire Department will be honored, according to department officials.
