February 22, 2026 — The Charlestown Fire District and Charlestown Ambulance Rescue Service conducted joint ice rescue training, taking advantage of calm conditions ahead of an approaching storm.
Members from both agencies utilized specialized equipment, including rescue sleds and Mustang suits, to practice safely retrieving a simulated victim who had fallen through the ice. The training emphasized coordination, safety, and effective response techniques in cold-water rescue scenarios.
As both agencies are dispatched to all ice and water rescue incidents within the district, the session provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, review procedures, and strengthen interagency teamwork.
Additional participation and support came from Cross’ Mills Fire Department and Charlestown Richmond Fire Department.
