Perth, NY — March 1st — An emergency medical call was received on Steers Road in the Town of Perth by the Perth Volunteer Fire Company. While Lake Valley Ambulance was asked to provide patient care and transportation, firefighters were sent to help. When crews arrived, they assisted EMS workers by evaluating the situation and making sure the ambulance could enter safely. In Fulton County, volunteer fire companies frequently assist with medical emergencies, particularly in rural areas where fire units can frequently arrive quickly to support EMS teams.

Many firefighters have received basic life support and scene management training. Fire crews vacated the area and resumed operations after patient treatment was finished and the ambulance was ready for transfer.
