Burtonsville Fire Department Mourns Life Member George Wade

Burtonsville, MD — March 7th — George Wade, the department's oldest living life member, has away, according to the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department. Before becoming a full-time fireman at the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department in November 1970, Wade started his fire service career in 1966 with the Hillandale Volunteer Fire Department. Throughout his tenure, he gained recognition for supporting daily station operations and maintaining the department's apparatus and rescue equipment.


He received recognition for a number of emergency responses, such as helping to extricate a car in 1975 and saving lives during flooding in 1972. Wade also helped with new member preparation and driving training programs. After retiring in 1986, he received Life Membership in 1988. BVFD sent his family and coworkers their sympathy.
