Burtonsville, MD — February 20th — On February 20, the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department gathered firefighters from throughout the area to pay tribute to District of Columbia Fire and EMS Battalion Chief Keith T. Long, a former member of the BVFD. With assistance from volunteer departments and local organizations that worked alongside Long throughout his career, DC Fire and EMS offered full fire department honors. Members came together to honor his dedication to public safety and his many years in the fire department.

Long's career involved both career service and volunteer work, just like many firemen in the Mid-Atlantic region. His commitment to training, emergency response, and teamwork was recognized by the departments present at the service. According to firefighters, the towns and departments he served will never forget his lifelong dedication to serving others.
