February 25, 2026 — Almond Fire & Rescue has announced a new fundraising initiative, replacing its traditional 200 Club with an innovative “Prize-a-Day for the Month of May” campaign aimed at enhancing firefighter safety. The program will award daily cash prizes throughout May 2026, with winning numbers determined by New York Lottery evening drawings. Department officials stated that all proceeds will be directed toward the purchase of new air packs, critical equipment used to protect firefighters operating in hazardous environments such as fires, chemical incidents, and vehicle emergencies. With each air pack costing approximately $8,500, the fundraiser plays a vital role in ensuring members are properly equipped to serve the community safely and effectively. Tickets are available for $20, and residents are encouraged to contact department members or reach out via the department’s social media page to participate. Officials expressed gratitude for the continued support from the community, noting that such efforts directly contribute to maintaining a high level of emergency response capability.
