This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

The Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, Inc. commemorated International Women's Day by celebrating women who work in emergency medical services and support patient care in their communities.

Women account for around one-quarter to one-third of all EMTs and paramedics nationwide, and the figure is increasing as more women choose professions in pre-hospital medical and public safety.

At Cambridge Valley Rescue Squad, 27 of the 59 personnel are women, working as attendants, drivers, EMTs, AEMTs, and paramedics. Their labor contributes to emergency response, patient care, and the volunteer EMS agency's daily operations. Department officials recognized the squad's female members for their devotion, professionalism, and teamwork in caring for residents throughout Cambridge.
