Hamlin, NY — March 3rd — Participants in the HMWFD attended a training session on sprinkler and fire alarm systems. Firefighter Stevenson, who has experience working with these technologies, led the exercise. A classroom study and practical instruction using a specially constructed prop that showcases several alarm systems from various eras comprised the program. Firefighters reviewed how sprinklers and alarms work in an emergency and practiced recognizing system components.

Firefighters frequently come across these systems during responses, despite the district's primary focus on protecting residential and suburban areas. Sprinkler systems and automatic alarms are essential tools for early fire detection and suppression, according to the National Fire Protection Association. According to department authorities, practical training improves firefighters' ability to respond to building situations.
