Spencerport, NY — March 8th — The Spencerport Fire District honored the efforts of women who assist the department's operations and community mission in observance of International Women's Day. Firefighters, junior firefighters, administrative staff, association members, and Ladies Auxiliary volunteers are just a few of the many roles that women play in the district. Their work helps the department's daily operations, training initiatives, and emergency response preparedness.

Women are increasingly participating in both operational and support positions in fire departments around the United States. The National Fire Protection Association states that women are becoming more involved in community outreach initiatives, leadership, and contemporary fire service operations. According to district officials, these members' commitment and hard work enhance the department and promote public safety throughout the Spencerport neighborhood.
