This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Rochester, NY — March 19th — As part of the department's outreach initiatives for community risk reduction, a Rochester Fire Department member visited a nearby classroom. Santos Cruz, a CRR firefighter, read aloud to students at Pinnacle School No. 35 and discussed the importance of firefighters in the community. School visits are a common way for fire departments to share safety information while building positive relationships with young residents.

Children's education programs are a crucial component of community risk reduction initiatives, according to the National Fire Protection Association. Additionally, the visit strengthened ties between firefighters and the community they serve by giving children the opportunity to ask questions and learn about fire safety in a classroom setting.
