March 9, 2026 — The Madawaska Fire Department shared an announcement promoting an upcoming community fundraising event organized by the Madawaska Parks and Recreation Department. The 3rd Annual “Mad Rec Madness” Tournament is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, and will be hosted by the Mad Rec Competitive Cheer Team. The event will feature a three-on-three double-elimination basketball tournament for participants ages 12 and older, along with a full day of family-friendly activities. Organizers said the tournament will serve as a fundraiser supporting several youth programs, including the Bouncing Blue Owls, Mad Rec Travel Basketball, and Mad Rec Cheer. In addition to the basketball competition, the event will include skills showcases, cheer performances, interactive games, and raffles aimed at bringing the community together while raising funds for local youth athletics. Registration for teams is available at a cost of $20 per player, and organizers are encouraging residents throughout the community to attend and support the programs.
