Madawaska Fire Department Issues Invitation to Bid for Emergency Shelter Generator

February 27, 2026 — The Madawaska Fire Department announced that the Town of Madawaska, Maine is seeking bids for the purchase and installation of a generator to provide reliable backup power for the town’s designated emergency shelter located at Madawaska Elementary School. According to the department, the project calls for the supply and installation of a 200-kilowatt generator, including delivery to the site, crane service for installation, connection to an automatic transfer switch and building electrical system, commissioning of the generator, and a resistive load bank test. The selected contractor will also be responsible for integrating the generator with existing electrical infrastructure, as well as providing testing, training, system handover, and warranty and maintenance support. Officials stated that sealed bids must be clearly marked “Town of Madawaska Fire Department Generator Bid” and submitted to the Town Office by 3:00 p.m. on March 24, 2026. The bids will then be opened during the Board of Selectmen meeting that same day. Town officials noted that the project is intended to strengthen emergency preparedness by ensuring the shelter can remain operational during power outages and major emergencies.
