Biddeford, ME — April 24th — The Biddeford Fire Department responded to a reported dryer fire in a second-floor apartment at 13 Hazel Street. In addition to mutual help from Saco, Arundel, Old Orchard Beach, and EMS units, a Desk Box assignment dispatched Squad 28, Truck 32, and Car 7. Car 7 requested an All-Hands assignment, recalling off-duty personnel and adding ladder and tanker backup after discovering smoke coming from the second and third stories.

Three other apartments had water and smoke damage, but the fire was restricted to the original apartment by the crews. The Red Cross is helping the building's tenants after it was determined that it was uninhabitable. There were no recorded injuries to firefighters or civilians. The incident appears to have been unintentional and is still being investigated.
