Auburn Fire Department Promotes Chris Washburn to Captain

March 12, 2026 — The Auburn Fire Department announced the promotion of Chris Washburn to the rank of Captain, recognizing his years of service and dedication to the department and community. Captain Washburn began his career with the department in February 2008 and was first promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in September 2020. In March 2026, he advanced to Captain and will now serve as the Shift Captain of Shift A. Washburn, who is also an Advanced EMT, has been widely recognized within the department for his commitment to training and professional development. In his new role, he will continue to play an important part in preparing firefighters through hands-on training and leadership. In addition, Captain Washburn serves as the team leader responsible for the purchasing and maintenance of the department’s personal protective equipment (PPE), ensuring firefighters have the gear necessary to perform their duties safely. Department officials congratulated Washburn on the promotion and praised his continued commitment to the mission of protecting the residents of Auburn, Maine.
