MINERVA, NY — March 8th — In honor of International Women's Day, Minerva Volunteer Fire & Rescue, 1495 NY-28N, acknowledged the importance of women in the fire and emergency services industries. Firefighters, EMTs, officers, and support staff are just a few of the many positions in the fire service that women in the US continue to hold. According to data from the National Fire Service, the percentage of women in volunteer and career departments is increasing, which supports community programming and emergency response.

Women make everyday contributions to operations, training, and public safety programs that assist communities throughout the area, according to department officials. Women in the Minerva community and beyond were also acknowledged for their ongoing contributions to public service, education, healthcare, and other fields.
