Brockton Fire Lieutenant Michael D Mahoney Laid To Rest

BROCKTON, MA - On the morning of Tuesday, February 22nd, a funeral mass was held for Brockton Fire Lieutenant Michael D. Mahoney at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 439 West Street in Brockton. Lieutenant Mahoney, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 14, 2022. Lieutenant Michael Mahoney proudly joined the Brockton Fire Department in 1996 and served for 25-years. He spent many years on Squad-A, and also served as the Aide to the Deputy Chief. Most recently, he was Lieutenant of the East Side's Engine-4, Group-1.

Lieutenant Michael Mahoney was the the loving husband of Carolyn Mahoney for nearly 30-years. Lieutenant Mahoney leaves behind his sons, Patrick Mahoney and John “Jack” Mahoney; his sister, Susan Leydon and her husband Jimmie, and his brother, Kevin Mahoney; his in-laws, Robert and Joan Nickerson; his sisters-in-law, Doreen Nickerson and Christine Leonard and her husband Erick; he is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Amanda Leonard, Jimmie Leydon, Sarah Leonard, Joey Leydon, Christopher Leonard, Stevie Leydon, Tommy Leydon and Bobby Leydon.

Lieutenant Michael Mahoney's calling hours were held on Monday, February 21st from 2-6PM at the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont Street in Brockton, with a Fire Department walk-through that was conducted at 1:30PM. The funeral mass was held at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 439 West Street in Brockton on Tuesday, February 22nd at 11AM. The interment followed at the Pine Hill Cemetary in West Bridgewater. Donations in Lieutenant Michael Mahoney's name can be made to the Brockton Firefighter's Relief Association, PO Box 3341, Brockton MA 02304-3341.
