Wallkill, NY — March 1st — After Wallkill High School wrestler Marco Futia became the school's first New York State wrestling champion, members of the Wallkill Hook, Ladder, and Hose Co. joined locals and organizations in welcoming him home. Futia's accomplishment at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association wrestling championships was acknowledged at the celebration.

Community members gathered in the hamlet of Wallkill to congratulate the athlete and mark a milestone for the school’s athletic program. Local fire departments and community groups often take part in events that recognize accomplishments within the district they serve. Members of the Wallkill Hook, Ladder and Hose Co. helped support the welcome home event as residents gathered to recognize Futia’s accomplishment and the pride it brought to the Wallkill community.
